The Trump administration announced its withdrawal from International Maritime Organization (IMO) negotiations aimed at decarbonising the shipping industry and warned it would retaliate against any carbon-related fees imposed on U.S. vessels. The move was conveyed through a diplomatic note sent to other IMO member states as the Marine Environment Protection Committee met in London for high-stakes talks, aiming to finalise new climate policy measures by the end of the week.
