
Tokyo has launched a new carbon credit trading platform integrating Gold Standard Verified Emission Reductions (GSVERs) to support its Zero Emission Tokyo Strategy. The initiative, backed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Gold Standard, aims to make high-quality carbon credits more accessible to Tokyo-based companies. Joint workshops and seminars will enhance corporate sustainability practices and climate strategies. Gold Standard CEO Margaret Kim emphasized Tokyo’s key role in global decarbonization efforts. The partnership strengthens Tokyo’s commitment to climate leadership and credible carbon offsetting.
