Taiwan Fertilizer has shipped 6,000 metric tons of blue ammonia to Taiwanese semiconductor firms, marking a significant step in the country’s clean energy transition. Blue ammonia, which is made by capturing carbon dioxide and combining it with nitrogen, reduces carbon emissions by 60% to 70% compared to gray ammonia. It supports industries such as semiconductors, electronics, and transportation in meeting international carbon regulations. Taiwan Fertilizer plans to expand its blue ammonia supply significantly in the coming months, aiming to provide tens of thousands of tons by Q3 to support Taiwan’s carbon reduction efforts. The company is also exploring renewable green ammonia as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
