Ship routes around Africa expected to continue due to U.S. strikes on Houthis, expert says

As U.S. strikes target Houthi forces in Yemen, ships may continue rerouting around Africa this summer to avoid risks in the Red Sea and Suez Canal. This is due to ongoing regional instability, including strikes on Gaza by Israel. Container consultant Lars Jensen suggests that although supply/demand balance will remain, it won’t match the 2024 peak season, mainly due to new ship deliveries.
