Odfjell plans to modernize its fleet with 6 to 12 new stainless steel tankers starting around 2027, at a potential cost of $500–$900 million. The vessels will replace older ships and feature advanced energy and fuel tech. Odfjell currently operates 71 vessels and has 18 newbuilds on order. The company targets a 57% carbon intensity reduction by 2030 and a net-zero fleet by 2050, committing only to net-zero-capable ships.
