DNV approves design for China’s ammonia-ready bulk carrier

Classification society DNV has granted approval in principle (AiP) for a 91,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) ammonia-ready bulk carrier designed by the Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC). Unveiled during Singapore Maritime Week, the design includes provisions for future retrofitting to ammonia fuel by allocating space for ammonia tanks and fuel systems.
